Job Title: Social Emotional Behavioral Learning Coach
Certification/Licensure: A valid and current certification in the area of Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP), Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP), Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP), Certified Master Social Worker (CMSW), Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Educational Psychologist or Teacher with a certificate in Special Education.
Essential Functions of Position1. Direct Student Support & Intervention
- Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to educators and support staff.
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and assist in developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), offering additional coaching for effective implementation as needed.
- Support districts in transitioning students from alternative placements back to their resident schools by coordinating reintegration plans, ensuring necessary supports, and facilitating communication among stakeholders.
- Provide consultation to school staff regarding mental health concerns, including classroom observations and guidance on appropriate services.
- Co‑facilitate or model small group SEBL instruction.
- Collaborate with school counselors, school psychologists, and mental health therapists to coordinate interventions for students.
- Provide coaching and support to district teams in implementing social-emotional and behavioral learning (SEBL) interventions across all tier levels.
- Support teams in monitoring and analyzing SEBL data for progress tracking.
- Facilitate team meetings to support problem-solving for individual student needs.
- Coordinate with the SEBL committee and MTSS coordinator to align interventions and support structures.
- Serve as a liaison between schools and community mental health providers, collaborating with administrators, teachers, school psychologists, mental health therapists, and other professionals supporting students.
- Stay informed about school-based mental health services and assist districts in accessing appropriate resources during the school day.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) SEBL supports and provide guidance to districts on implementing and sustaining a comprehensive school mental health framework.
- Promote awareness of mental health needs, available services, and community responses to mental health challenges.
- Develop and deliver in‑service training for school staff on SEBL and mental health‑related topics.
- Adhere to and support ESU policies and procedures.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
