JOB TITLE:
TITLE I PARAPROFESSIONAL - Norfolk Catholic Schools
BASE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school graduate
- Successful completion of district background check
- Ability to work effectively with children
- Ability to work independently
- Effective communicator (both orally and in writing)
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good time management / organizational skills
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal/Title I Teacher
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:
Building Principal / Assistant Principals
EVALUATION:
Evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 6 hours/day; nine months a year
JOB GOAL:
To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to students.

- Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
- Performs clerical duties such as attendance reports, typing, filing, and handling routine interruptions such as notes, messages and deliveries
- Performs supervisory duties, such as lunchroom, playground, halls and classroom
- Types, draws, writes and duplicates instructional materials
- Prepares bulletin boards, graphs and charts
- Researches and assembles materials to be used in a particular unit
- Helps in the care of the room
- Reads to students, listens to students read
- Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, etc.
- Drills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taught
- Alerts teacher to needs of students
- Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment
- Makes educational games and aids
- Assists when emergencies arise
- Performs any other delegated non-instructional responsibility assigned by teacher or administrator
