Job Overview

The University of the District of Columbia is a public land‑grant institution. The position is Adjunct Faculty for the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AASN) program, responsible for the clinical portion. The instructor reports to the Director of Nursing. Core courses are held at UDC‑CC main location; the instructor may also teach at additional campuses.

Responsibilities
  • Provides laboratory and clinical instruction.
  • Teaches assigned clinical courses as specified in the schedule and course contract.
  • Recruits, advises, and assists with student retention; responds to student inquiries (emails) promptly.
  • Engages in scholarly activities and community services.
  • Teaches clinical during day, evening, and/or weekend schedules; may include more than one campus site.
  • Attends meetings, ceremonies, and official functions as required by the chief academic officer, chief community college officer, and/or dean.
  • Attends orientation sessions to become familiar with the institution’s mission, teaching philosophy, policies, procedures, and learning management system.
  • Adheres to ACEN standards; assists in developing assessment of student learning outcomes in accordance with ACEN standards.
  • Adheres to university policies and guidelines concerning academics, student and staff conduct.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with a clinical focus in Adult Health and/or Nursing.
  • Registered or eligible for license in the District of Columbia.
  • Recent clinical and teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and understanding of program objectives.
