Classroom Paraprofessional-Little Panthers Preschool

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Some college or experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required

Reports To:

Building Principal

Receives Guidance From:
Teacher;
Building Principal

Evaluation:
Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district's Personnel Evaluation Policy

Terms Of Employment: 4-6 hours/day; school year only (9 months)

Job Goal:
To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to the student

Essential Duties:

  • Consistent and punctual "on-site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
  • Performs supervisory duties, such as lunchroom, playground, halls, and classroom
  • Works cooperatively with the teaching team to provide quality instruction and supervision
  • Performs supervisory duties such as lunchroom, playground, halls, and classroom
  • Communicates positive support of children in the classroom
  • Assists the teacher by observing and supervising classroom activities
  • Provides one-on-one and group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher
  • Demonstrates confidentiality
  • Assembles materials to be used in a particular unit
  • Duplicates instructional materials
  • Prepares bulletin boards and charts
  • Helps in the care of the room
  • Reads to students, listens to students read
  • Assists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, etc.
  • Alerts the teacher to the needs of students
  • Assist with the inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Assists with field trips
  • Makes educational games and aids
  • Assists when emergencies arise
  • Other duties as assigned by the teacher or early childhood program director

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in human relations and leadership
  • Auditory and visual skills
