TITLE:

SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL
- Little Panthers Preschool

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma
• Some college or experience
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required

REPORTS TO: Preschool Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in providing education and instruction to the students

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School year only

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the district’s Personnel Evaluation Policy

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Classroom Teacher;
Building Principal

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Consistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job function
• Works cooperatively with teaching team to provide quality instruction and supervision
• Uses positive forms of communication with children in the classroom
• Assists the teacher by observing and supervising classroom activities
• Provides one-on-one and group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher
• Demonstrates confidentiality
• Assembles materials to be used in a particular unit
• Helps in the care of the classroom including sanitizing classroom toys and materials
• Interacts with children during play by expanding on vocabulary and social skills
• Supports the teacher by documenting objective observation notes
• Assist with inventory of supplies and equipment
• Assists with field trips
• Other duties as assigned by the Classroom Teacher or Preschool Principal

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory) :

• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Skills in human relations and leadership
• Auditory and visual skills

Position Type: Part-Time

Salary: $19.01 Per Hour
