Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish
- Good written communication skills
- Proficient with technology and word processing
- Ability to handle distractions and multitask
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
- Valid driver’s license/ proof of insurance
Reports To: Director of Student Services
Receives Guidance From: Director of Student Services;
District Interpreter(s)/Translator(s)
Location: Office located at Little Panther's Preschool
Evaluation: Performance evaluated in accordance with provisions of administrative guidelines
Terms of Employment: Part time (nine months a year; 20 hours/week)
Job Goal: The interpreter/translator is responsible for answering parent/staff phone calls (and written or “in person”) requests for translating. The interpreter/translator will also assist the District Interpreter/Liaison with building or district level materials needing translation from English to Spanish for distribution to parents. This individual will also be available for interpreting at meetings, parent conferences, and school activities.
Essential Duties:
- Consistent and punctual attendance
- Answer parent/staff phone call requests
- Translate building and district parent information
- Translate/create Spanish copies of calendars and newsletters
- Copy and distribute translated material to schools
- Interpret during school meetings, student conferences, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and parent activities
- Travel to various buildings (as needed) to assist with translation
- Develop parent support materials in Spanish
- Maintain confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned by District Interpreter/Translator
