Thrift Store Clerk

Position: Part‑Time Thrift Store Associate (up to 29 hours per week; pay $15.00/hr)

The Salvation Army, an international evangelical movement, seeks to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting human needs in His name without discrimination.

Maintain the thrift store at a standard operating level and complete all daily duties and responsibilities.

• Keep shelves and clothing racks full and organized to promote sales.
• Assist the management team in investigating and pricing items for sale.
• Process all merchandise efficiently and in accordance with established standards.
• Stock racks, shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise to promote sales.
• Learn and, when required, train on the complete processing system, including cash register operations.
• Maintain a clean store environment, including shelves, counters, and tables.
• Wrap and bag merchandise for customers as needed.
• Provide courteous, prompt, and polite customer service in alignment with the Salvation Army’s mission.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or GED. Retail and/or cash register experience preferred but not required.

• Ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
• Basic computer skills and ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web‑based system.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
• Attention to detail and creative problem‑solving skills.
• Strong independent judgment.

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire.

Good speaking, hearing, and vision; excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods; lift or move more than 50 pounds occasionally. May need to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Retail setting with intermittent exposure to outdoor weather. Moderate noise level.
