Continental Tide is searching for skilled Marine Electricians III for our Fleet Services in Norfolk, VA. The successful candidate will join our Fleet Services Group performing various ship repairs, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic systems, circuits, and equipment.
  • Perform on‑site field service for system groom and checkout, minor repairs, and system configuration validation.
  • Set up, check, and correct operational and experimental electrical machinery, circuitry, and equipment while adhering to pre‑established guidelines and engineering specifications.
  • Assemble multi‑pin connectors and fiber‑optic connections.
  • Construct components, subunits, or simple models, or adapt standard equipment; troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
  • Perform component and/or system troubleshooting to diagnose problems and provide the most cost‑effective recommendation for completing repairs; verify mechanical alignments.
  • Read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints.
  • Inspect and test electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections and testing devices.
  • Extract and compile engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; process data, identify errors or inconsistencies, and select methods of data presentation.
  • Conduct tests or experiments that may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures, and select, set up, and operate standard test equipment and record test data.
  • Follow specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
Experience and Skills

Requirements:

  • Must be Copper Connector Certified and possess fiber‑optic experience.
  • Technical expertise with power generation and transmission equipment, motorized valve actuators, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), fiber optics, and integrated network system experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems and equipment.
  • Possess NAVSEA Cableway and Connectorization Certifications.
  • High school diploma, GED, or industrial school certificate.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprints.
  • Repair and replace cables and connectors.
  • Participate in the installation and maintenance of AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting, and alarm circuits.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance and be able to obtain DBIDS and access local shipyards and U.S. Navy bases.
  • Basic hand tools proficiency.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stretch, reach, squat, and twist for extended periods; lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to ride ships at sea for extended periods and wear respirators as required.
  • Travel within and outside the continental United States may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in Multi‑pin Connectors IAW MIL‑STD‑20035A (SA).
  • Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FC.
  • Minimum of 7 years as a Marine Electrician with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.
