Northeast Community College is seeking a Truck Driver Trainer on the Norfolk campus.

The purpose of this position is to instruct and train students for entry-level employment as commercial motor vehicle operators. This position will be responsible for providing theory, simulation, and practical applications for classes in Class A and Class B commercial motor vehicles and potential CDL endorsements. This is accomplished using established training materials to present training exercises and practice; proving training in policy and procedures in compliance with all local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws;

and providing hands‑on training in advanced applications, training and testing preparations in vehicle inspection, skills/maneuvers, and range and road driving skills required to meet and or exceed requirements needed to successfully meet the ELDT requirements and to pass the Nebraska Commercial Driver’s exam. Other duties include operating Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and tracking student performance electronically, performing minor maintenance on trucks and trailers, recruiting students, interacting with members of the community and businesses, and assisting in planning and setting up training classes.

This position will be primarily located on the Norfolk Campus but will also require travel to additional locations to provide training to meet our 20-county service area needs.

Requirements

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required, an associate degree preferred. Professional truck driving training certification is required.

Experience:

More than three years of professional truck driving experience required. More than five years of professional truck driving experience is preferred. Successful candidate will have a clean driving record, possess a current Class A CDL license, and will maintain the license during employment with Northeast Community College. Must adhere to all requirements of holding a CDL license. Haz Mat, Passenger, and School Bus endorsements are preferred and encouraged.

Skills:

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be comfortable speaking in front of a class, and be knowledgeable about computer operation and driving simulation equipment.
