Job Description
This position will manage the financial records for units as assigned by Academic Affairs, both pertaining to state funds and the Research Foundation funds including: setting up spreadsheets and/or databases and recording, monitoring, and reporting budget and grant information, reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies with the Banner system, assisting relevant leadership with annual budget process, monitoring account balances, and recommending adjustment actions.

Responsible for completion of payroll and purchasing activities. Manage, procure, and administer all purchases through the eVA procurement system. This position will also be responsible for monitoring graduate assistant stipends and waivers to ensure units stay within their allocations.

Demonstrated ability to create and maintain spreadsheets to maintain budgets.
Working knowledge of and ability to use a variety of PC-Based software, including word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database programs.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures relating to the accounting, hiring, and procurement areas.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse public.
Demonstrated ability to independently plan work and adapt to changing priorities.
Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial information.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience monitoring and reconciling budgets and accounts payable.

Some experience in a fiscal support role.

Considerable fiscal accounting experience.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Some knowledge of the eVA procurement system.

Demonstrated ability to use Banner and Insight.

Some knowledge of the Commonwealth of Virginia accounting, procurement, and hiring policies and procedures.
