Accounting Clerk
The Accounting Clerk supports the operations of an organization’s accounting department, primarily handling administrative tasks to ensure proper financial documentation. They provide administrative and bookkeeping assistance to Accountants, prepare financial statements according to accounting principles, and confirm the accuracy of accounting database information. The clerk oversees Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Income Journal, General Cashiering, Taxes, and Internal Controls. The role is responsible for the daily operation of a specific area and is encouraged to make recommendations, suggest financial control changes, and report SOP and procedural violations.
The industry functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day.
- Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 25 pounds.
- Push/pull carts and other equipment up to 100 pounds.
- Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
- Work environment: front office and all areas of the hotel; involves variable temperature conditions and noise levels, in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Must be able to stand and exert well‑paced mobility for lengthy periods of time.
- Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co‑workers.
- Posting and coding invoices to the proper accounts.
- Reconciling statements and invoices.
- Daily account ledger balancing.
- Maintain house safe and banks.
- Balance accounts on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Maintain communication with the operational team.
- Assist with sales tax analysis and balancing.
- Month‑end reporting.
- Invoicing and collecting payments for all accounts receivable.
- Cash handling and preparing daily deposits.
- A four‑year college degree (Accounting preferred) or equivalent education/experience.
- Computer skills required; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred; experience with hotel systems is preferred.
- Minimum of 1‑2 years of accounting experience; hotel accounting experience preferred.
- Able to solve problems and make sound business decisions.
- Good understanding of the English language and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Requires advanced knowledge of principles and practices within the finance and hospitality professions, including managerial and complex problem‑solving skills.
- Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and information in a specialized field, using readily available data to draw logical conclusions and recommendations.
