Senior Accountant
About the Role
To provide General Ledger accounting support to The New York Times Company. Tasks include journal entry preparation and processing, data verification, account reconciliations and issue resolution. You will provide customer support to the business managers and accounting staff of the company and will perform accounting tasks including month end close, account reconciliations and report directly to the Manager, Financial Accounting.
Responsibilities- Perform analytical review on the more complex General Ledger accounts and research unexpected or unusual results. Provide analysis of the composition and validity of account balances
- Coordinate inventory reporting of receipt and consumption activities with the Abinet inventory subsystem.
- Work with operational managers and directors to determine necessary month end journal entries
- Help with certain ad hoc or customized analytics
- Apply proper accounting treatment to new financial transactions and record applicable journal entries to the General Ledger
- Respond to questions from business units regarding general accounting and Workday system matters
- Investigate and resolve GL inconsistencies.
- Assess current processes and create recommendations for process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Ensure accounting procedures are documented; maintain strong internal controls
- Some travel for physical inventory counts is expected

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 5+ years general accounting experience
- Apply professional judgment to complex accounting matters
- Ability to convert complex data into meaningful information so you can develop actionable plans.
- Experience with general accounting concepts and procedures
- Requires a detail-oriented individual.
- Experience with multi-currency general ledgers/processing
- Able to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Experience with Workday
The annual base pay range for this role is between $75,000 and $85,000 USD.
