General Responsibilities
This position is responsible for monitoring student attendance, dropout retrieval, and serving as the division’s attendance officer.
Education and Experience
Requires a high school diploma, some college level course work and 1-2 years of experience with at-risk youth, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of customer service experience. Requires a valid driver’s license.
Essential Job Functions
- Serving as the division’s attendance officer.
- Serves as school representative to parents, students, and court officials concerning unexcused absences.
- Schedules and facilitates attendance conferences with school staff, parents and students concerning unexcused absences.
- Reviews attendance guidelines with parents and students.
- Inputs or retrieve attendance data from the student information system.
- Generates truancy reports for school staff and administrators;
- Reconciles and adjusts attendance data and follows standard protocols and applicable laws and regulations.
- Prepares forms, attendance summaries, truancy reports and other documents as required.
- Communicates with parents or guardians to report or verify excused or unexcused absences.
- Operates a computer and use various software applications to complete assigned duties.
- Explains and interprets applicable laws, regulations and protocols to parents, guardians and staff.
- Presents lawful documentation to Juvenile and Circuit Court System.
- Files petitions against parents or guardians who are out of compliance with state attendance regulations.
- Provides accurate and lawful documentation to Juvenile Courts.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Monitor attendance and identify habitual truancy.
- Maintain punctual and consistent attendance;
- Performs home visits for truant students.
- Attends weekly prevention meetings with court and community professionals.
- Works under the general supervision of a Senior Coordinator of Student Support Services.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $19.75 to $31.86 Per Hour
