Office Manager and Graduate Program Assistant
LocationNorfolk, VA
Responsibilities- Serve as Office Manager and Graduate Program Director, providing program and administrative support to the Department Chairman, graduate program directors, and faculty members of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
- Manage all clerical and administrative activities related to office and graduate program operations.
- Supervise and coordinate the workload of support staff, including student workers.
- Strong knowledge of customer service, problem resolution, and management techniques for effective departmental operations.
- Considerable knowledge of standard office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated time‑management and organizational skills, including proofreading.
- Ability to complete work assignments in a timely manner while multi‑tasking.
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
- Ability to work with the department’s constituents and to communicate in a multicultural environment.
- Considerable experience providing administrative support to a Department Chair or unit director level position; some supervisory experience.
- Some experience working in a higher education environment and as an office manager.
- Working knowledge of the development and maintenance of social media platforms, including websites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked In.
Salary range: $33,838 - $47,500
