Office Manager and Graduate Program Assistant
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Office Manager and Graduate Program Assistant (full‑time, 12‑month) position. This role will serve as the Office Manager and Graduate Program Director, providing program and administrative support to the Department Chairman, graduate program directors, and faculty members. Responsibilities include all clerical and administrative activities related to the office and graduate program management and operations, and supervision of support staff, including student workers.
RequiredEducation
Strong knowledge of customer service, problem resolution, and management techniques for effective and successful departmental operations.
Required Qualifications- Considerable knowledge of standard office software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Considerable knowledge of administrative policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proofreading skills.
- Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments in a timely fashion while multi‑tasking.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to work with the department’s constituents and communicate in a multicultural environment.
- Considerable experience providing administrative support to a Department Chair or unit director level position.
- Some supervisory experience.
- Some experience working in a higher education environment.
- Some experience as an office manager.
- Working knowledge of the development and maintenance of social media platforms, including websites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked In.
This is an on‑campus position.
