Job Summary
A Receptionist/Administrative Support opportunity is available in Norfolk, VA, supporting an accounting department in a professional public sector environment. Key Responsibilities- Serve as the primary receptionist by greeting visitors, processing mail, and supporting security check-in procedures.
- Answer, screen, and route incoming phone calls in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and support accounting department workflow.
- Audit, name, file, and electronically distribute Accounts Payable invoices and digital documents.
- Maintain organized electronic files and assist with general administrative support for the accounting team.
- Work independently to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and support day-to-day office operations.
- Pay: $17 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. - Work Arrangement: 100% onsite in Norfolk, VA.
- Start Date:
ASAP.
- Manage front desk reception duties, visitor check-in, mail processing, and call routing.
- Support accounting operations through bank deposit preparation, AP invoice auditing, and digital document distribution.
- Organize, name, move, and maintain digital files accurately and efficiently.
- Provide dependable administrative support while meeting deadlines and setting priorities.
- 1-2 years of experience as a receptionist, administrative assistant, or in a similar administrative support role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong computer literacy, including working with PDFs, navigating multiple screens and windows, copying and pasting, and managing digital files.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Professional dress, appearance, and customer service approach.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and use sound judgment in prioritizing tasks.
- 3-5 years of administrative support or receptionist experience.
- Experience supporting an accounting, finance, or public sector department.
- Familiarity with Accounts Payable invoice processing, electronic document routing, or deposit preparation.
- Strong comfort working in a highly computer-based office environment.
