As a Management Analyst II you will support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion department in advancing equity, accessibility, and economic inclusion across internal operations and externally through community engagement efforts. This role involves research, marketing, relationship-building and project management.

Department Hiring Salary Range: $56,900.48 - $63,086.58

Essential Functions
  • Conducts a variety of research and other assigned projects by compiling and reviewing internal and external organizational information, preparing position and issue papers; and recommending changes for management consideration.
  • Oversee marketing and community engagement events internally and externally
  • Coordinates and assists with daily project management duties for department director, ensuring timely execution of initiatives.
  • Promote initiatives focused on equity and economic inclusion within the city and local organizations.
  • Research and stay informed about trends and best practices in diversity, equity, inclusion and public administration.
  • Assists department director by constructing sensitive documents and correspondence, producing special research reports, participating in task forces and special issue meetings and coordinating various projects.
  • Engage in community events, even those that take place outside standard work hours.
  • Assist other staff with special projects, program issues and data management.
  • Additional responsibilities as required in a complex and changing work environment.
Education/Experience

Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Three years' experience in data analysis or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of project management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to gather and interpret project requirements.

Ability to prioritize deadlines, including multiple short and long-term projects.

Interest in public speaking and program facilitation.

Work Hours

Mon-Friday 40 hours/week 8:30am-5pm

  • Retirement:
    If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre‑tax payroll deduction. If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit.

Tuition Assistance Program

  • The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self‑development and education. Permanent full‑time and permanent part‑time classified, unclassified permanent, full‑time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
