The Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer position works with the Regional Network to implement the commercial and sales & marketing strategy set by our Head Office Commercial leadership. It designs and executes the regional commercial and sales & marketing strategy in support of the Lines, Operations, and specialized sales strategies. The position is responsible for monitoring sales targets, overseeing customer visits, and driving continuous improvement through regular follow-up and reporting.
It leads efforts to gather market insights and develop strong customer intimacy to support regional business growth. Additionally, the role is responsible for screening and identifying new potential business opportunities within the region for the CMA CGM Group, as well as studying and making proposals on these opportunities in full coordination with Head Office departments.
- Develop and set the Commercial, sales & marketing strategy while ensuring consistency with global strategic initiatives.
- Offer data-driven expertise with a regional, customer-centric perspective in development of comprehensive go-to-market strategies.
- Facilitate ongoing customer research and market data collection and business intelligence processes. Analyze macroeconomic factors and buying trends to refine key market and customer segmentations.
- Based on the group strategy in terms of growth, investments, and diversification: identify new market opportunities on the shipping, inland, logistics, ICDs and infrastructure sides as well as optimizing existing structures / service providers.
- Lead the mapping of business opportunities in full cooperation with local Management and HO departments.
- Study/identify new services. Propose possible alliances for improved intra-regional canvassing.
- Screen the market in conjunction with local management for potential M&A and JV opportunities in diversified business areas.
- Set sales & marketing targets and develops corresponding business plans across all sales channels and also challenge opportunities reported by local management in the region.
- Support the annual account planning process, providing analysis for account expansion and new growth opportunities.
- Oversee product marketing and development of value proposition for core services/products and key product marketing deliverables for the region.
- Lead, direct, evaluate and develop the Sales/Business development and Commercial teams.
- Work closely with leadership & Human Resources, establish sales training plan focused on developing and reinforcing critical business development / sales competencies.
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Master’s Degree
MBA or other business and/or commercial qualifications preferred.
