Work Arrangement

Hybrid in either JAX or Norfolk. Must travel to both locations regularly.

What You'll Do

Provide quality assurance and oversight of drydock packages and execution. Support Port Engineers and ship crews in dock by reviewing scopes, monitoring progress and documentation, and ensuring regulatory compliance for class and flag. Visit the shipyard periodically to validate status, remove blockers, and keep leadership and the customer informed.

Responsibilities
  • Quality review of drydock packages for scope, specifications, test plans, and documentation readiness
  • Periodic site visits to the shipyard to verify progress, safety, and quality; issue field observations and follow ups
  • CFR management overview including identification, tracking, and closeout readiness
  • Change order management overview including scope validation, pricing support, and impact tracking
  • Frontload management overview including validation of frontload lists and justification
  • Progress and invoicing management overview including earned value checks and pay application support
  • Planning and schedule support for Port Engineers including look aheads and critical path checks
  • Subcontractor management for regulatory and schedule adherence in coordination with Port Engineers
  • Assist with negotiations for change orders and frontload items with shipyard and vendors
  • Budget control of the overall project with variance tracking and recommendations
  • Maintain task order logs and change logs with clear traceability
  • Work with the Project Coordinator through Smartsheet to keep tasks on plan and brief leadership and the customer on progress
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

Experience

10 years of HVAC, building automation systems, critical system, civil, mechanical, and/or electrical project experience.

Technical Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Proficient in project management software such as Primevera and/or Microsoft Project. Financial management familiarity with proven capacity to establish specific, measurable, attainable performance goals and hold others accountable to achieve them.

Decision Rights

Own QA gate for drydock packages. Approve field observations and minor sequencing changes within delegated limits. Recommend change orders, frontloads, and budget adjustments for approval. Escalate issues that threaten scope, cost, schedule, or compliance.

Key Interfaces

Technical Manager, Maritime Project Manager, Technical Supervisor, Port Engineers, Project Coordinator, Shipyard PM and supervisors, Contracts, Procurement, Accounting, Vessel leadership, MARAD, ABS, USCG, vendors and subcontractors.

KPIs

QA defects found and corrected before execution, schedule adherence, change order growth and cycle time, invoice accuracy, CFR and punch list closure days, completeness of class and flag documentation, Smartsheet task on time rate.
