Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing a pier side availability from the time the Project is being developed during the Planning Phase up until the final milestone is met.
- Provide independent, complex analysis, concept formulation and new method identification.
- Perform as the lead representative of our Company and act as the prime point of contact for our customers.
- Ensure all project information being provided by our customers is forwarded to all departments within our company.
- Regularly review the project status and provide an assessment to senior management regarding cost and schedule.
- Ensure that the progress for the availability is accurate and monitor material status for the availability.
- Assist the Planning Department in developing project proposals, job estimates and schedules.
- Able to lead and facilitate regular cross-functional Project Team meetings with company personnel and representatives from customers and the US Navy.
- Assesses change order impacts and how they impact milestones.
- Typically has a BA/BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Science or a related academic field plus 2 years directly related experience or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 8 years directly related experience.
- Preferred minimum of eight (8) years of shipboard repair experience within a Public or Private shipyard.
- Must have a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience managing technical personnel within complex activities or shipboard availabilities.
- Must have managed a pier side availability.
- In-depth knowledge of the tools and systems used at NASSCO-Norfolk for managing availabilities.
- Must have experience in using Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Must have experience of working within a “Cost Type” or “Fixed Type” Contract.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, with reliable, insurable transportation and willing to carry a “business” rider if necessary while using this vehicle.
- Able to gain access to Government facilities, and able to obtain a Security clearance once employed by NASSCO-Norfolk.
- Must be willing to travel and manage ship repair availabilities in remote, out-of-state locations for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment- including a respirator.
