Overview
CYP Program Assistant
May be eligible for a 1,000.00 incentive at 6 months and at 1 year. Role located with Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR).
Responsibilities- Work directly with children and youth to keep them actively engaged, well-cared for, and safe while participating in the CYP.
- Help children develop social skills (e.g., making friends, conflict resolution), promote healthy choices, build self-help and school readiness skills, and explore the environment.
- Support curriculum planning, indoor and outdoor environment management, supervision, parent and employee communication, assessment, and program compliance as part of daily duties.
- Set up and maintain activity areas, prepare snacks or meals where applicable, and assist with special events and activities that meet physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
- Follow approved child guidance and youth development techniques and ensure safety, health, and nutrition practices are modeled and promoted.
- Provide care and supervision in compliance with DoD, NAF components, and local installation policies; monitor whereabouts and safety of participants; and supervise field trips and events.
A qualified candidate possesses the following:
- Entry Level (CY-1702-01): ability to communicate effectively in English, follow instructions, complete required DoN training, promote positive relationships, and work as part of a team.
- Intermediate Level (CY-1702-01): knowledge of child and youth development, ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices, interpret curriculum, follow written instructions, plan and organize, and have six months of related experience.
- Target Level (CY-1702-02): knowledge of development principles, ability to deliver developmentally appropriate services, promote relationships, verbal communication skills, and one year of related experience.
- Must provide a copy of your High School Diploma, GED, or college transcripts showing degree awarded when you apply.
- Must be 18 years or older and meet all training and certification requirements applicable to Federal, State, and national accreditation standards.
- Pass all required background checks, including fingerprint checks, DoD-specific checks, and any required state checks.
- Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing; certain offenses may disqualify candidacy; be aware of DoD stance on controlled substances.
- Contingent on proof of education if not provided at time of application; REAL
-compliant identification may be needed for installation access after a specified date.
