Seeking a field Safety Coordinator in Norfolk, VA to assist with a long‑term Road Connector Project. Must have bridge and roadway experience.

Responsibilities
  • Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met.
  • Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment.
  • Develop, organize, and implement safety‑related programs that meet company safety standards.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and determine root causes, recommending corrective/preventive measures.
  • Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication among new and existing employees.
  • Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs.
  • Work rotating day and night shifts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety from an accredited institution or 5 years’ experience as a safety professional in the construction industry.
  • Bridge/Roadway experience.
Preferred
  • 7 years’ construction safety experience in heavy construction (marine works, tunnel, or roadway).
  • OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Safety Training.
  • CHST certification.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor‑Construction (STS‑C) certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Full‑time, 4–12 shifts.
  • Local candidate preferred; no per‑diem offered.
