Construction Inspector II
Job Description
Construction Inspector II – Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of VA.
As a Construction Inspector II, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, contract plans, specifications, and special provisions. Projects will include bridges, roadways, and environmental components.
Responsibilities- Inspect and monitor construction sites and work activities to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
- Prepare daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
- Verify lines and grades of project improvements.
- Coordinate and perform field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
- Implement quantity calculations for pay estimates.
- Perform analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with contractor, owner, and project stakeholders as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years in the field or trade-related training in design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or related field.
- Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection and field testing of construction materials.
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
- Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential.
- Familiarity with PC-based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
- Current/valid State Driver's License required with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
- Construction field materials testing certifications (e.g., Asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental).
- Associate degree or equivalent with courses related to the work.
