Construction Inspector II

We are looking for a Construction Inspector II to perform general construction inspection tasks for projects including bridges, roadways, and environmental components in the Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg and Hampton Roads areas of VA.

• Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
• Prepares daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
• Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
• Coordinates and performs field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
• Implements quantity calculations for pay estimates.
• Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
• Communicates verbally and in writing with contractor, owner, and project stakeholders as directed.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three (3) years in the field or in trade‑related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or other construction‑related field.
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection and field testing of construction materials.
• Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently.
• Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements.
• Familiarity with the use of PC‑based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
• Current/valid State Driver's License required with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
• Construction field materials testing certifications (e.g., asphalt, concrete, workzone, pavement marking, environmental, etc.).

• Associate degree or equivalent to include courses in a related work type.
