Job Description

The City of Norfolk’s Parking Division is an enterprise fund, which falls under the Department of General Services. The Parking Division operates over 19,000 public parking spaces located in 14 garages, 10 lots, and more than 500 on street metered parking spaces.

Perform billing and collections duties and post fees for customers. Provide directions and information to patrons. Generate cash receipts, reconcile accounts and maintain accounts receivable. Perform administrative duties and provide assistance as needed.

• Collect fees and provide assistance to customers by operating a cash computerized terminal, calculating hourly rates, generating receipts, verifying validations, completing insufficient funds and lost ticket forms, giving directions, answering questions, reporting emergencies, and completing accident reports.
• Perform financial duties by completing reports, reporting fees collected and balancing with a computer printout.
• Perform administrative duties by processing payments, assisting with promotions, handling mail, writing correspondence, collecting information from various publications, placing them in scrapbook, updating new books and information in the system, sending out late notices, and providing assistance as needed.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

• Six months related experience.
• High school diploma or GED.

• 19 1/2 hours per week. Work hours may change seasonally.
