Job DutiesThe Chair will oversee all aspects of departmental leadership, including faculty development, curricular innovation, strategic planning, and external partnerships. The successful candidate will inspire excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, while fostering an inclusive and collegial environment that supports both faculty and student achievement. In addition, the successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening the department's academic profile, expanding interdisciplinary collaborations, and enhancing its visibility within the university and the broader community.
Responsibilities- Provide academic and administrative leadership to advance departmental goals and priorities.
- Support and mentor faculty in teaching effectiveness, research productivity, and professional growth.
- Guide curriculum review, assessment, and program development consistent with institutional and accreditation standards.
- Oversee budgeting, course scheduling, and departmental governance.
- Foster community partnerships and civic engagement initiatives.
- Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and student-centered learning in alignment with NSU's mission.
- Represent the department in college, university, and external affairs.
