Job Description:
The Department of Physics at Old Dominion University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor in Experimental Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics to begin in Fall 2026. This is a 10-month tenure track appointment.
Responsibilities of the candidate will include:
* Establishing an externally funded research program in experimental atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics, broadly defined
* Teaching physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, consistent with the academic programs of the department
* Performing service activities commensurate with rank.
Teaching and service responsibilities of the position are commensurate with other Carnegie Research-1 institutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
Additional Considerations:
* Postdoctoral research experience.
* A strong publication record.
* Experience preparing peer-reviewed external grant proposals or experiment proposals.
