General Responsibilities
This position is responsible for assisting a teacher in the daily management and instruction of students. Responsible for performing a variety of tasks in order to help facilitate the daily classroom instruction and activities. Closely monitors the needs of the students; to include basic personal needs, safety needs, physical help, observation, and reporting of student behavior.
Education and Experience
Requires completion of at least sixty (60) college credit hours from an accredited college or university; or must have successfully passed the Para-Pro exam as prepared by the Department of Education. At least one (2) years of experience working with children or young adults in a classroom setting, and at least two years of customer service experience.

Essential Job Functions
- Provides instructional support to teachers in the daily management and instruction of students in the physical education classroom.
- Leads physical education activities with the physical education.
- Provide escort and assistance to children as necessary.
- Assist the physical education teacher in creating an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Responsible for performing instructional and clerical tasks to relieve teacher of routing activities and to help carry out daily classroom activities.
- May be required to work at various locations with various assignments to include; pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, regular general education classrooms, special education, or computer learning center/lab.
- Performs designated learning tasks with students such as, demonstrating or explaining lessons, prompting student participation, monitoring during tests, and assisting with other instructional tasks.
- May be asked to serve in alternative learning classes.
- Responsible for operating office equipment and audio‑visual equipment.
- Performs a wide variety of monitoring, record keeping, and file maintenance for an accelerated learning program.
- Assists students in physical activities; to include escorting children to the library, playground activities, lunchroom breaks, resource classes, restrooms, and field trips.
- May be required to work with individual or groups of students requiring close one‑on‑one attention; to include assisting students with physical and sanitation needs.
- Responsible for monitoring children in the absence of the teacher.
- Requires continuous standing, walking, and lifting and physical restraint.
- Work may include noise and/or disruptive student behavior and exposure to student bodily fluids.
- Incumbent should be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to effectively communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Works under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and administrative personnel according to established policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Salary: $18.98 to $30.51 Per Hour
