Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking an Extended Care Team Member for before and after‑school childcare to work with students.

Saint Patrick Catholic School (Norfolk, VA) is an independent Catholic School for students from Pre‑K through 8th grade. Extended Care is a quality, certified program that enables students to engage in fun, freedom, and build relationships. The program provides arts and crafts projects, organized games, free play, gym and outdoor play time and spaces for quiet study and homework.

• Provide quality care, support, and experiences for students in the Extended Care program
• Escort students safely to/from classrooms and resource centers on campus
• Plan, participate, and engage students in various enrichment activities
• Interact with students on an appropriate level
• Model positive and nurturing behavior at all times; promote a culture of respect for all members of the community
• Resolve conflicts as needed and in accordance with the 101 Positive Principles of Discipline
• Identify and report any issues or concerns regarding student behavior to the Director of Auxiliary Programs
• Organize and clean spaces that were used for Extended Care before leaving the shift
• Perform and adhere to all program guidelines and safety protocols
• Attend regular faculty and department meetings and contribute to teamwork and positive morale
• Perform other duties as directed by the school administration

• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with children and adults
• Ability to assist children with homework and age‑appropriate learning activities
• Must be able to sit or stand for long periods
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop, and run
• Committed to serving as a role model for students

• High School diploma or GED
• 1 year of related experience working with school‑aged children
• First Aid and CPR certifications (preferred)

• Hourly rate based on experience
• On‑campus parking

Applicants will be required to pass a full background check as part of the hiring process. These processes include fingerprint screening, a criminal background check, and Department of Social Services checks, including any previous states an applicant may have been employed or lived in other than Virginia before hire.
