Assistant Learning Guide – Solstice Hybrid Academy

Part‑Time | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

$15–$20 per hour (depending on experience)

ABOUT SOLSTICE HYBRID ACADEMY

Solstice Hybrid Academy is a project‑based microschool designed to help students learn through curiosity, creativity, and real‑world experiences. Our students engage in hands‑on projects, field trips, community experiences, and collaborative exploration.

Solstice is not a traditional classroom. Our team serves as guides and mentors who support students academically, socially, and emotionally while encouraging independence, creativity, and meaningful learning.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Part‑time Assistant Learning Guide to support our unique learning environment. This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys working with diverse learners, values experiential education, and is comfortable supporting students in a flexible, non‑traditional setting.

The Assistant Learning Guide works alongside the lead Learning Guide to help facilitate daily activities, support student learning, and maintain a positive and organized learning environment.

WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE UNIQUE

  • You'll support student learning and help maintain a structured environment.
  • You'll help guide students through activities and projects.
  • You'll build strong relationships with students.

In many ways, this role is different from a traditional classroom:

  • Learning happens through hands‑on projects, field experiences, and creative exploration

  • Students often work at different levels and learning styles
    .
  • Guides act as mentors and facilitators rather than lecturers
    .
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Learning Environment

  • Assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and organized learning space.
  • Help manage transitions between activities and support daily routines.
  • Support classroom management and student engagement.

Assist with Project‑Based Learning

  • Help facilitate hands‑on projects and collaborative learning experiences.
  • Support students as they work through activities and problem‑solving tasks.
  • Encourage creativity, curiosity, and exploration.

Support Diverse Learners

  • Provide additional support to students who need help staying focused or organized.
  • Assist students with varying academic and social‑emotional needs.
  • Help implement strategies that support neurodiverse learners.

Collaborate with the Teaching Team

  • Work closely with the Lead Learning Guide to support daily instruction.
  • Assist with preparation for projects, activities, and field experiences.
  • Contribute to maintaining a supportive and positive learning culture.
WHO YOU ARE

A Patient and Supportive Educator

  • Comfortable working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience with special education or differentiated learning is strongly preferred.
  • Skilled at helping students stay focused, organized, and engaged.

A Flexible and Creative Thinker

  • Enjoys hands‑on learning and project‑based education.
  • Comfortable adapting to a dynamic, non‑traditional learning environment.
  • Open to new ideas and creative approaches to education.

A Strong Team Member

  • Collaborative and communicative with colleagues.

  • Passionate about helping students grow academically and personally.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting.
  • Background in special education, inclusive education, or neurodiverse learners
    .
  • Strong classroom management and student support skills.
  • Interest in project‑based learning or alternative education models
    .
