Job DescriptionFull-Time and Permanent;
Exempt; 7.33 Hours/Day; 200 Days/Year; 10 Months/Years
This is an itinerant position that would require travel to multiple schools.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with an endorsement in Hearing Impairment, PreK-12.
- Tuberculin Skin Test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective instructional adaptations based on appropriate grade level curriculum.
- Knowledge of effective management of students with hearing impairments.
- Understanding of hearing impairments and the impact on students with additional disabilities.
- Ability to work effectively with parents, school staff, administrative personnel, and outside agencies.
- Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL).
- Ability to effectively organize and present information in both oral and written form.
- Knowledge of special education including state and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to accurately measure, observe, report, and record learning progress of students.
- Ability to prepare and follow individual schedules of students.
- Develops and implements Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
- Develops and provides specially designed instruction to students with hearing impairments in their least restrictive environment.
- Utilizes the most appropriate communication techniques for each student with a hearing impairment as indicated on student's IEP (i.e. American Sign Language, Total Communication, Sign Support, Oral Communication).
- Provides direct and indirect instruction and support to students with hearing impairments.
- Implements techniques to remediate specific language difficulties.
- Demonstrates classroom management techniques with groups as well as individual students.
- Confers frequently with parents regarding educational, behavioral, and social needs of each student.
- Works cooperatively with other professional staff members who are involved in the educational programming of students with hearing impairments.
- Works cooperatively with the professional staff members who are involved in administering division and state assessments for students with hearing impairments.
- Facilitates communication between students with hearing impairments and students without hearing impairments.
- Maintains a clear, concise, and timely record keeping system; collects data to demonstrate educational progress of students.
- Contributes to facilitating a positive educational environment for students.
- Supports preparation of appropriate instructional materials for student use; including classroom visuals.
- Supervises students in the classroom, general school building, and community.

Salary: $61,289 to $91,587 Per Year
