Job DescriptionThe Department of Engineering Technology at Norfolk State University seeks candidates for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor in Architectural Drafting. The department is fully accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). We offer an associate in science degree in Architectural Drafting, and the bachelor’s in science degree in Construction Management Engineering Technology;
Computer Engineering Technology; and Electronics Engineering Technology.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Architectural Drafting and Construction Management Engineering Technology, with an emphasis on technical and studio-based instruction and research. Priority areas include Architectural Design, AutoCAD drafting, and studio-based learning experiences, laboratory and studio activities, maintenance of equipment and facilities for Building Codes and Specifications, Construction Problem Analysis, Planning and Scheduling, Organization and Supervision of Construction Projects, Surveying, Methods of Construction, and Cost Estimation and Project Management.
Develop and sustain partnerships with the construction and architectural design industries to ensure student access to internships, field trips, professional development opportunities, and to provide mentorship for student chapters of ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) and NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). Contribute to program and curriculum development and with the Construction Management Program’s Industrial Advisory Board, participate in program assessment and accreditation.
Advise and mentor students to promote a student-centered learning environment.
