Associate/Full Professor in Future Sea Level Rise and Its Uncertainty (Tenure-track, F1090A)
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and the Department of Ocean and Earth Sciences (OES) at Old Dominion University invite applications for a tenure‑track associate or full professor position in future sea level rise (SLR) and its uncertainty, starting in Fall 2026. This position is a 10‑month appointment and is part of ODU’s Centennial Faculty Hire initiative focused on sea level rise and coastal resilience.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop transdisciplinary research, education, and outreach programs that integrate understanding of relative and global SLR, spatial modeling, and coastal engineering solutions applied to coastal resilience. Foster connections and synergy across the colleges and departments at ODU dealing with various aspects of coastal resilience. Produce modeling products and simulated projections of changing sea level on local, regional, national, and global scales at decadal timescales, relevant for developing effective public policies on coastal adaptation, mitigation, conservation, and resilience.
Produce robust, high‑resolution spatial models that identify and address dominant sources of uncertainty, especially for the U.S. East Coast.
- Experience mentoring postdoctoral researchers and pre‑tenured faculty.
- Able to develop and lead interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research groups.
