Title: Teaching Faculty in Music

FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $52,905 - $102,591, commensurate w/ experience
Full Time or Part Time: Full Time
Job DescriptionThe role involves teaching music courses, developing curriculum, providing feedback, engaging students, and contributing to the college community through service and collaboration.
Functional Responsibilities- a. Instructional Design: utilize and distribute established course syllabus using Syllabus Builder, participate in textbook selection, and design assessment strategies.
- b. Instructional Delivery: align activities with outcomes, employ active learning and technology, and provide prompt feedback.
- c. Instructional Effectiveness: assess learning early, analyze student ratings, and implement action plans.
- d. Instructional Expertise: maintain currency in discipline, methods, and technology.
- Develop and evaluate faculty plans, hold office hours, serve as academic advisor, attend meetings, maintain attendance records, submit grades timely, adhere to policies, participate in peer teaching community, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators.

- c. Community citizenship as a college employee citizen.

- Willingness to design and implement curriculum to improve student learning.
- Ability to develop and adapt teaching strategies for diverse community college students.
- Ability to use formative and summative assessment measures to enhance learning.
- Experience or willingness to use proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Willingness to use or incorporate emerging technologies and alternative delivery methods appropriately.
- Effective interpersonal communication orally and in writing.
- Willingness to stay current and continually improve discipline knowledge.
- Teaching experience in higher education required; community college teaching preferred.
B. Applicable to the specific position:
- Appropriate level of education (required):
Master’s or doctorate degree in music, music performance, or music education. - Demonstrated ability to teach music theory, composition, appreciation, and instrumental or vocal lessons at the college level.
- Experience supervising, directing, and leading performing arts education programs.
- Documented experience directing, conducting, and coordinating student performances.
- Experience with performing arts curriculum development and application.
- Demonstrated understanding of trends in the arts and cultural sector.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to lead, promote, and maintain a performing arts program for the college and community.
