Job Description

Clinical Assistant Professors in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program will teach, mentor graduate students, engage in scholarly activity, and provide clinical leadership. Faculty will contribute to curriculum development, program evaluation, and community partnerships, supporting the program’s occupational‑centered approach.

Professional Responsibilities

Faculty members will:

  • Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate coursework.
  • Supervise and mentor students in clinical placements.
  • Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer‑reviewed outlets.
  • Participate in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Engage in service activities that support the school and the community.
Qualifications
  • Earned PhD, OTD, or other relevant doctoral degree from an accredited institution.
  • Initial certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Virginia.
  • Clinical practice experience in occupational therapy.
  • Evidence of teaching, advising, and scholarly activities.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
    • Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.
    • Experience with occupational‑therapy education, curriculum design, and program evaluation.
    • Experience teaching entry‑level occupational therapy content.
    • Experience mentoring graduate‑student research or capstone projects.
    • Record of scholarly publications and/or impactful clinical research.
    Conditions of Employment

    Final candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check prior to beginning employment.
