Adjunct Faculty in History

Part‑time adjunct instructional faculty teaching 100‑level sections of in‑person General Education historical survey classes at Old Dominion University. Positions may remain open as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Tutor students in introductory history courses (100‑level survey classes).
  • Prepare instructional materials and lessons.
  • Assist in course assessment and grading.
  • Meet attendance for scheduled daytime courses (8:00 AM‑3:00 PM) at the Norfolk main campus.
Qualifications
  • M.A. or Ph.D. in History or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in history.
  • Preparation and/or experience teaching introductory‑level history courses at the college level.
  • Experience teaching survey‑level courses at the college level (preferred).
  • Availability to teach in‑person during daytime hours on the Norfolk campus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior teaching experience in 100‑level survey history classes.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
