Adjunct Faculty in English
The English Department at Old Dominion University invites applications for part‑time Adjunct instructional faculty to teach 100‑ and 200‑level sections of in‑person General Education Composition and Literature courses. Those selected will be hired as part of an adjunct pool and scheduled as needed. The role primarily involves teaching daytime, on‑campus courses between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, most often in General Education Composition but sometimes in General Education Literature.

Minimum Required EducationM.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in English or a closely‑related field with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate credit in English courses.
Minimum Required Experience- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Preparation and/or experience teaching introductory‑level courses in literature and/or composition at the college level.
- Availability to teach in‑person on Old Dominion University’s Norfolk, VA campus between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
- For Literature: ability to teach across genre and periods, with a diverse selection of texts and voices.
- For Composition: expertise in writing studies pedagogies such as WAC/WID, multimodality, anti‑racism, and/or universal design for learning.
