Athletic Academic Advisor

Overview

Old Dominion University is hiring an Athletic Academic Advisor who will coordinate academic advising for student-athletes in designated sports and monitor their progress towards degree completion and eligibility compliance with NCAA, Conference, and ODU regulations. The advisor ensures student-athletes meet academic requirements and maintains communication among student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and faculty.

• Coordinate overall academic advising for student-athletes in specific sports.
• Monitor and support progress towards degree completion and continuing eligibility under NCAA, Conference, and ODU rules.
• Maintain strong communication with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and faculty/staff.
• Full-time position in the Athletics department.
• Complete a criminal background check if selected as final candidate.

• Must possess strong computer skills including proficiency with Word applications.
• Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree or a Bachelor’s degree with advanced experience in counseling, education, or higher education.
• Experience advising students in academic settings and working in an athletic administrative unit required.
• Preferred experience with Banner software.
