Job Summary
The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement provides strategic leadership for alumni engagement initiatives within the Office of Alumni Relations. The position develops, implements, and assesses engagement strategies that strengthen lifelong relationships between alumni and Old Dominion University through volunteer leadership, alumni chapters, communications, mentorship initiatives, engagement programs, and strategic partnerships.
Working collaboratively across University Advancement and campus partners, the Associate Director provides leadership for alumni chapter operations, volunteer development, alumni and student networking initiatives, engagement communications, constituent outreach, and signature alumni programming. The position serves as a key member of the Alumni Relations leadership team, advancing institutional priorities while fostering meaningful alumni engagement and enhancing the overall alumni experience.
This Position has a salary range of $60,000 - $70,000.

Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of alumni relations, volunteer management, constituent engagement, communications, higher education, nonprofit organizations, advancement, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic engagement initiatives while managing multiple priorities, projects, and organizational objectives.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to cultivate productive relationships with alumni, volunteers, students, campus partners, donors, and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, analyze information, solve problems, and independently manage complex projects while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
Valid driver's license.
A master's degree is required, or a bachelor's degree with progressively responsible professional experience equivalent to an advanced degree.
Considerable experience in higher education, preferably in alumni relations, advancement, development, communications, or nonprofit management, is required.
Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and working with constituent relationship management (CRM) systems, event registration platforms, reporting tools, and other engagement technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with volunteers, boards or leadership teams, constituent engagement, and planning programs and events or related professional experience is preferred.
A degree in Higher Education, Higher Education Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Conditions of Employment
This Position has a salary range of $60,000 - $70,000.
