Position SummaryUnder general supervision, an Educational Outreach Specialist I at the United Way South Hampton Roads connects communities with local educational initiatives, early childhood programs, United for Children programs and services, and other duties assigned. They typically manage school partnerships, train providers, conduct community workshops and meetings, and build strong relationships with our education-certified agencies and community partners and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Advocate for the early learning, developmental delays, and social-emotional learning of children through providing proper screening(s) for them.
- Provide efficient and timely administrative and operational management of United Way’s United for Children Collective Impact teams.
- Travel to local community areas (i.e., libraries, childcare centers, parks and recs, etc.) where kids and parents visit to share knowledge on ASQ and early childhood development 50% of the time.
- Work closely with ECCE providers to ensure that personnel and parents are trained on how to screen students using the ASQ online portal.
- Provide technical assistance for using the ASQ-3, ASQ-SE-2, and the ASQ Enterprise online platform with network partners.
- Ensure parents, caregivers, clinical providers, early childhood professionals, and school divisions have the tools to conduct quality developmental screenings, follow ups, and referrals.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans to move forward early childhood and youth success strategies.
- Manage an annual HRDSI program budget, tracking all expenses for federal grant report.
- Coordinate data sharing results through the execution of MOU’s, submission of quarterly reports, as well as analyzing and sharing results with key stakeholders.
- Site visits to the partners in our ASQ online enterprise to include training as necessary and recruiting of new users to screen students in their care.
- Attend monthly meetings with HUB leaders that manage developmental screening throughout Virginia.
- Implement educational initiatives (e.g., career and college readiness, early childhood development, or collective impact initiatives) in alignment with United Way strategic goals.
- Support the Education team in cultivating and managing relationships with community partners through planning, logistics, and quality customer service.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with school districts, teachers, principals, parents, and internal/external educational community partners.
- Work with the Thrive team to help parents with resources needed for children within the families and parental support aids.
- Lead group workshops, deliver presentations, and host events that connect families with educational tools and essential social resources.
- Monitor program outcomes, track participant progress, and compile data to fulfill grant requirements and measure community impact.
- Assist Director and Education team members with program design and implementation.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans to move forward early childhood and youth success strategies.

- Site visits and meetings with schools and educational certified agencies as needed. Have a caseload of agencies from the education pillar in community investments grants.
