The English Department at Old Dominion University invites applicants for part-time Adjunct instructional faculty teach 100-and 200- level sections of in-person General Education Compositionand Literature courses. We are currently seeking individuals, thispost may remain open for additional applications as opportunitiesarise. Those selected will be hired as part of an adjunct pool,which will be utilized as needed based on which courses are in needof coverage.

We tend to have the greatest need for instructors whocan teach daytime, on-campus courses between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM,most often in General Education Composition but sometimes also in General Education Literature.

General Public

M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in English or M.A. or Ph.D. inclosely-related field with a minimum of 18 hours graduate credithours in English courses.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Preparation and/or experience teaching introductory-levelcourses in literature and/or composition at the college level.

Availability to teach in-person on Old Dominion University’sNorfolk, VA, campus between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, ANDone or more of the following:

• For Literature: ability to teach across genre and periodspecialties and to include a diverse selection of texts andvoices.
• For Composition: expertise and experience in writing studiespedagogies such as WAC / WID, multi-modality, anti-racism, and/oruniversal design for learning.
