THE STANDARD WORK HOURS FOR THIS POSITIONARE:

• Tuesday/Thrusday 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
• 2 hours/week for planning

EDUCATION AND

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Eligible for or in possession of a Virginia Teaching Certificate, preferred

DESCRIPTION

This is a part-time teaching position to support adult English learners . The adult teacher works under the supervision of the NTC Adult Education Services Coordinator. This position is an annual hire and is predicated on the availability of federal funds and student enrollment.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

• Develops lesson plans and organizes daily classes so demonstration, instruction, and practice can be completed within the allotted time.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for an orderly and productive learning environment.
• Evaluates student's performance at the required times.
• Maintains student information, and reports information to the data specialist monthly.
• Maintains professional competence through in-services, required trainings, and educational activities provided by the region and the state.
• Ability to effectively communicate with adult students and administrators.
