The Commissioning Manager for offshore Substations is responsible for managing all pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover activities to ensure safe, timely, and efficient energization of offshore substations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a focus on HSE compliance and quality assurance.
Roles and Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate the commissioning team, including engineers, vendors, and contractors.
- Develop and maintain commissioning execution plans, schedules, and procedures.
- Act as the single point of contact for all commissioning activities on the OSS.
- Ensure commissioning activities align with project milestones and reporting requirements.
- Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning of HV systems, protection & control, SCADA, auxiliary, and mechanical systems.
- Review and approve commissioning procedures and test documentation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate resolution with OEMs and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with HSE standards, permits to work, and isolation procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safe systems of work.
- Track punch lists, manage non-conformities, and ensure closure before handover.
- Verify documentation, statutory inspections, and certification requirements are met.
- Coordinate handover of completed systems from construction to operations teams.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to operations/maintenance personnel.
- Lead final acceptance tests (FAT/SAT) and ensure proper handover documentation.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Extensive experience in commissioning of offshore substations, power plants, or large-scale electrical infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, protection and control, and SCADA systems.
- Excellent leadership and coordination skills, with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.) and grid compliance requirements.
- Strong focus on HSE compliance and safe systems of work.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder management abilities.
