Position: Mid-level Military Systems Engineer with Security Clearance

As a Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) Systems Engineer you will be providing technical support to U.S. Navy Surface Ship Fleet. You will be part of a team that works closely with the U.S. Navy's Technical Community and other Serco Subject Matter Experts in delivering quality readiness support to our sailors. This team of established professionals has been recognized by the Navy's Technical Community as to the "go to" group for their outstanding technical assessment concerning real time Fleet issues.

Their contributions have been acknowledged and accepted world-wide in its support of the U.S. Navy. This position supports the surface ship community by providing oversight of life cycle analysis, maintenance and resolution of high visibility issues. The position will liaise with personnel from across the Surface Warfare Enterprise (NAVSEA, Naval Surface Warfare Centers, Type Commanders, Fleet, Regional Maintenance Centers, SURFMEPP, Planning Yards), and other Naval Field Activities.

In addition, this position interfaces with these Naval Activities and NAVSEA Program Offices to support modernization efforts, Fleet emergent task and Advisory planning and execution of resolution for all Surface classes. To be successful in this role, you will:
* Provide Program Review of Ship Change Documents and make recommendations for adjudication of ship alterations.
* Perform technical engineering analysis and installation drawings, standard installation procedure reviews.
* Provide oral and written recommendations concerning the Navy Data Environment and Entitled Process.
* Provide technical support review, impact analysis for shipboard systems, operation maintenance/repairs on surface ships.
* Draft Naval Fleet Advisory messages delineating administrative objectives and policies and procedures in response to equipment/machinery failures and safety issues.
* Compose Naval Advisory Messages utilizing Naval CMP message writing program.
* Maintain the Electronic Advisory Record Repository and Tracking System (eARRTS) for all surface ships.
* Track Departure from Specifications (DFS) through eDFS in eFORMS.
* Develop PowerPoint and Excel Spreadsheets that track progress and capture data for various hull, mechanical and electrical systems.
* Collaborate with stakeholders regarding technical, logistics, and other Fleet issues and coordinate resolution of these issues.
* Extract operational data, conduct research and analysis utilizing government websites, and provide analyses to stakeholders.
* Using Critical Thinking skills, break down problems into smaller components and work with stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
* Attend meetings, draft written meeting minutes and reports.
* Participate in working groups, forums, analytical activities as required to accomplish contract requirements. To be successful in this role, you must have:
* Active DoD secret security clearance.
* Bachelor's degree.
* 5+ years relevant work experience.
* In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years' applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or unique Prior Naval Surface Warfare experience.
* Knowledge of U.S. Navy configuration management principles, processes and activities.
* Experience as a Work Center Supervisor onboard U.S. Naval Amphibious ships.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
* 10% travel required.
