One of our clients in the heavy manufacturing industry is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer at their facility in the Norfolk, VA area. This person will lead process improvement efforts, collaborate with manufacturing teams and create new SOPs to reduce waste, increase efficiencies, and create cost savings.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes to ensure quality, increase yields, and reduce labor and scrap
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, cost reduction, standard work, cell layout, time studies)
  • Provide technical support across production, tooling, equipment, and prototype/process development
  • Analyze data for cost modeling, quotations, labor efficiency, and informed decision-making
  • Partner with shop floor, engineering, and leadership to drive scalable, safe, and efficient operations
Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or related) with 5+ years of manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • Strong Lean/CI background, including Kaizen, formal problem solving, and Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt preferred)
  • Proficient in time studies, standard work, capacity analysis, labor standards, and OEE evaluation
  • Experience designing and implementing manufacturing improvements, equipment, cell/plant layouts, and ergonomic workstations
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and technical leadership skills; able to read blueprints and use 2D/3D CAD tools
