Scheduler III

NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Scheduler III for an exciting opportunity in Norfolk, VA. This position offers the chance to support ship repair, fabrication, and modernization projects in a fast-paced environment. If you are highly skilled in MS Project, Primavera P6, and production planning, and can manage complex project schedules, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As a Scheduler III, you will support project management teams and the Planning Department by developing, maintaining, and monitoring schedules for multiple fabrication and ship repair projects. You will collaborate with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure schedules reflect accurate manpower forecasts, resources, and deadlines. This role requires expertise in project scheduling systems, the ability to mitigate risks, and strong communication skills for interfacing with customers, coworkers, and vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Project Management and Planning teams by preparing and analyzing scheduling data.
  • Develop, update, and maintain job schedules in MS Project and Primavera P6.
  • Manage all phases of production schedules, including schedule impact analysis of changes.
  • Determine project status and maintain information on progress, manpower budgets, and performance.
  • Resource-load schedules based on bids and build plans.
  • Create master schedules that establish sequence and lead times for production.
  • Maintain schedules for steel processing sites, facilities, and equipment.
  • Participate in planning meetings and schedule reviews with craft and management teams.
  • Analyze specifications and capacity data to determine manpower requirements.
  • Provide weekly schedule status reports to Production Manager/Director.
  • Develop custom reports, charts, and graphs for project tracking.
  • Create bid schedules for estimating as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items and company policies.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education/

    Experience:

    BA/BS in a related field + 2 years directly related experience, OR AA/AS + 4 years directly related experience, OR 8 years directly related experience.
  • Required Skills/Knowledge:
    • 5+ years of experience planning and scheduling fabrication/ship repair projects.
    • Expertise in MS Project and Primavera P6.
    • Ability to perform activity definition, sequencing, critical path analysis, resource loading, and leveling.
    • Familiarity with ship repair, overhaul, modernization processes, and WBS structures.
    • Experience with estimating, contractual methods, and government processes.
    • Strong communication and reporting skills written and verbal.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and production plans.
    • Knowledge of NAVSEA Standard Items 009-60 and 009-111.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Must be reliable, steady, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:
You will work in a shipyard or fabrication facility setting, collaborating with production, project management, and craft teams. This position may involve working in dynamic environments with tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
