Amentum is seeking Deck Machinist Mate for MARMC Code 255 to provide technical services and assessments on US Navy Auxiliary equipment. The candidate will operate, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, onboard maintenance training, assessment, inspection, grooming, on Sliding Pad Eyes, Boat Davits, Cranes, Capstans, Antenna Tilting Groups, and Chocks.
Job Responsibilities- Conduct specified engineering/technical evaluations and perform equipment functional checks.
- Perform troubleshooting, testing, analysis, operational oversight, maintenance oversight, diagnose operational faults for installed US Navy systems.
- Provide training to ship’s force personnel as an integral part of everyday shipboard task in the operation, repair, maintenance, and logistics support of the listed systems.
- Provide support for shipboard Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) tasks including, but not limited to, Total Ship Readiness Assessments (TSRA), Combat Systems Command Control Communications and Computer Readiness assessments (CRA), Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV) programs, and Fleet Tech Assist (FTA) events. scheduling, coordination, and documentation for the MARMC technical assistance and assessment support process.
- Assist ship’s force technicians and government personnel, at assigned locations, to analyze and resolve malfunctions detected during equipment operation, maintenance, and/or testing.
- Analyze equipment operational and inspection date to determine the source of the fault, recommend repair, and assist with corrective actions.
- Advising equipment/system engineering changes toward improving quality and reliability.
- Facilitating installations, maintenance, repair actions.
- Able to observe operation of the equipment to witness full range of performance, where possible, and note conditions and parameters for any out of specification readings and/or degradations.
- Must be familiar with the use of measuring/test equipment required in the performance of troubleshooting duties. This includes, but is not limited to dial indicators, milliamp process clamp meters, digital insulation testers, Infra-Red (IR) thermometer, clamp on current meter, digital tachometer, multimeter, etc.
- Provide on-the-job training to Ship’s Force personnel in the operation, troubleshooting, root cause identification, accomplishment of repairs and testing of the assigned equipment.
- Must be able to document and submit written feedback to correct errors/omissions in equipment documentation (technical manuals, Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS) cards, Allowance Parts Lists (APL), ship’s drawings, schematics, etc.) uncovered during the accomplishment of shipboard related tasking.
- Provide written/oral debriefs to the ship’s Chief Engineer (CHENG) and/or other designated Officer of all actions taken and the status of the equipment and/or system. The completion of all jobs will be followed up with a Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR) and a copy provided to all appropriate stake holders as determined by the applicable Auxiliaries Division Branch Head.
- Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) - Must have an active secret US government clearance.
Note:
US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance. - A minimum of five (5) years of full-time hands-on technician-level experience, within the last 7 years working on (i.e., proof of expertise operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to) Sliding Pad Eyes, Boat Davits,, Cranes, Capstans, Antenna Tilting Groups, Chocks, Boat Davit Cranes, Cargo Cranes, and Knuckle-Boom Cranes.
- Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Sliding Pad Eyes, Boat Davits, Cranes, Capstans, Antenna Tilting Groups, Chocks, Boat Davit Cranes, Cargo Cranes, and Knuckle-Boom Cranes. for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent is also required.
