Senior Sonar Electronics Technician - Shipboard
Amentum is seeking Electronics Technician Maintenance – Sonar for MARMC Code 287 to provide technical services forship and land-based site installations. The candidate will operate, preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, onboard maintenance training, assessment, inspection, grooming, and calibration of Navy surface combatant ship SONAR auxiliary systems and interfaces.
Job responsibilities:
Review, assess, maintain, and provide recommendations for revision and/or updates of system technical documentation.
Provide scheduling, coordination, and documentation for the MARMC technical assistance and assessment support process.
Write technical, assessment, and inspection reports, Technical Assistance Visit Reports (TAVRs), debriefs Material Assessment Forms (MAF), and trip reports.
Conduct oral debriefings to management and technical personnel.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)A minimum of five (5) years of full-time hands-on technician-level experience, within the last 10 years troubleshooting, repairing, and providing logistic support of sonar or equivalent system and subsystems for Hull or Keel Mounted SONARS.
A minimum of three (3) years of full-time hand-on technician-level experience, within the last 5 years, troubleshooting and repairing of SQS-53 (B,C and
D) systems and subsystems including repair/replacement of transducers and stave cables in both non-pressurized and pressurized dome environments.A minimum of six (5) years of full-time hands-on technician-level experience, within the last 10 years troubleshooting, repairing, and providing logistic support of sonar or equivalent system and subsystems for Towed Array and Sonobuoy Receiving Systems.
A minimum of three (3) years full-time hands-on technician-level specialized experience, within the last 5 years troubleshooting and repairing sonar systems and subsystems which include AN/SQR-19 and MFTA Towed Array Systems, AN/SQQ-28 Sonobuoy Receiving Systems and AN/SQQ-89 On-Board Training (OBT) systems and subsystems.
A minimum of five (5) years of full-time hands-on technician-level experience, within the last 10 years, troubleshooting, repairing, providing logistic support of sonar or equivalent systems and subsystems for SONAR Auxiliary Systems.
A minimum of three (3) years full-time hands-on technical-level specialized experience within the last 5 years, troubleshooting and repair of sonar auxiliary systems and subsystems which include:
AN/WQC-2A underwater communications,
AN/UQN-$/4A/10 Fathometers,
AN/BQH-7A Bathythermographs, and AN/SLQ-25 Torpedo Defense Systems
.A minimum of five (5) years of full-time hands-on technician-level experience, within the last 10 years troubleshooting, repairing, and providing logistic support of sonar or equivalent system and subsystems for WQM-9.
A minimum of three (3) years of full-time hand-on technician-level experience, within the last 5 years, testing transducer arrays and cables using AN/WQM-9 or equivalent equipment.
Must be capable of using and reading technical operation and maintenance documentation and manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and data tables
Must possess a thorough knowledge of technical publications related to Navy surface ship combat and/or electronic systems
Must be able to communicate effectively in written and oral expression
Must know the theory of electrical and electronic principles
The position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities
The position may require travel
Must have an active secret US government clearance.
Note:
US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must be or able to obtain Sonar Dome Diver Certification
