Engineering Technician IV - Mechanical (AC/Refrigeration)
Position Summary:
Life Cycle Engineering is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician IV – Mechanical (AC/Refrigeration) who will be available to join our team in Norfolk, VA assisting Ships Force and/or involved Navy Technical Activities with troubleshooting, repair, testing and grooming of systems and equipment.
Security Clearance Requirements:
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance required (Security clearance eligibility may be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance
- EPA Universal certification
- Provide assessment status and operational checks of equipment and systems, which will include:
- Identifying and documenting system and/or equipment problems
- Correcting and/or repairing identified discrepancies and required corrective actions
- Identifying and documenting design problems
- Identifying and documenting logistic support deficiencies and recommending corrective actions
- Developing and providing on-the-job training (OJT) to Ships Force personnel
- Verifying configuration data and existing 2 Kilos for accuracy
- Developing test specifications.
- A minimum five (5) years (accumulated within the last seven (7) years) of demonstrated, specialized, hands-on experience working on (i.e., proof of expertise operating, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and assessing US Navy Auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to)
- High Pressure Manifolds
- Low Pressure manifolds
- Bleed Air Systems
- Masker Air Systems
- Prairie Air Systems
- Dehumidifiers
- Centrifugal Air Conditioning (A/C) Plants
- Reciprocating A/C Plants
- Ship’s Service Refrigeration System
- Chilled Water Pumps
- High Pressure Air Compressors (HPACs)
- Low Pressure Air Compressors (LPACs)
- Medium Pressure Air Compressors (MPACs),
- Weapon Systems Air Compressors (WSHPAC’s)
- Emergency Breathing Air Compressors (EBACs)
- High Pressure Breathing Air Compressors (HPBAC)
- De- ballast Air Compressors (DBACs)
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Air Compressors
- LP/HP Dehydrators
- Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the aforementioned systems/equipment/components for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent is also required.
- The specialized experience shall demonstrate the individual's ability to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.
- Demonstrate regular use of accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
- Interpret wiring diagrams and control schematics.
- Utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite to compile information for reports and history files, transfer digital pictures from camera to computer, enhance as required, and label them for report purposes.
- Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics and plans and the ability as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to troubleshoot, analyze and provide distance support for listed equipment.
- Experience in the preparation and adjudication of Departures From Specifications (Client) and Engineering Support Requests (ESRs), and review of Work Items and Process Control Procedures (PCPs) when required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, ILS-LOGICOM, TAAS-Info and Fleet Scheduling Center (FSC).
- Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, and standing; frequent periods of prolonged sitting may be required.
- Maneuvering around tight spaces in a shipboard environment
- Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance.
- Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
