About the Role
Bristol Infrastructure Design Services, LLC is hiring a Cost Engineer to support NAVFAC Hampton Roads, VA.
Responsibilities- Provide independent, timely and professional cost engineering support, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities for the Navy, Marine Corps, and other Supported Commands, including minor works projects, specific projects, special projects, military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, space utilization, and facilities development.
- Utilize knowledge of engineering and architecture as it relates to cost and participate in planning, budgeting, designing, and construction of substantial new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for complex military construction.
- Participate in conferences with project stakeholders and collaborate with other engineering and architectural disciplines to ensure system coordination and integration with specific project requirements.
- Completion of a course of studies from an ABET or NAAB accredited program leading to a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, mechanical, civil engineering or architecture, supplemented by considerable hands‑on design experience.
- 3–5 years of prior work experience in the design and/or construction fields and a minimum of 5 years of cost engineering experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience working with Architectural, Engineering, or Construction firms on commercial/industrial type facilities contracts with at least five (5) projects valued in excess of $10 million.
- Certification as a Certified Cost Professional (CCP) issued by the American Association of Cost Engineers.
- Certification as a Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) issued by the Department of Defense.
- Professional knowledge and skill in applying theories, concepts, principles, computer system applications, and methodology of Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering related to the full range of construction activities.
- Conduct of studies and analysis of requirements for cost, labor, and/or materials; evaluation and advice on cost estimates and contract change orders.
- Knowledge of cost engineering concepts, theories, principles, practices, and techniques necessary to plan, design, construct and maintain a wide range of shore‑based engineering projects.
- Knowledge of DoD and Navy cost engineering criteria.
- Knowledge of local, state, federal, and foreign country laws, codes, and statutory requirements affecting cost engineering design throughout the NAVFAC Mid‑Atlantic.
- Knowledge of related architectural and engineering fields and their impacts on cost engineering design.
- Knowledge and experience with Autodesk software, Microsoft Office, cost engineering software, and other DoD computer systems and software used by the Navy command.
- Ability to produce written analysis results, consolidate findings of others, and evaluate recommendations and facts.
- Ability to present oral proposals and study results effectively.
- Knowledge of budgeting, planning, and project management techniques, including coordinating the work of others and leading teams.
- Knowledge of and skill to work in full compliance with Safety Policy and Guidance, including use of personal protective equipment.
